Our Experience

Thogoto Forest Family (TFF) is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) committed to conservation and ecotourism in Thogoto Forest. Registered on 3rd May 2021 under the Thogoto Community Forest Association (CFA), TFF started with 46 members and has now grown to over 100, reflecting increasing community engagement in environmental preservation.

  • TFF members come from villages within a 5km radius of the forest, including Thogoto, Dagoretti, Nderi, Gikambura, and Karinde. The organization actively engages in tree planting, forest clean-ups, and awareness campaigns to promote sustainable environmental practices.

  • Beyond conservation, TFF fosters ecotourism by organizing hiking, nature walks, camping, picnicking, team-building events, and sports activities. These experiences allow members and visitors to connect with nature while strengthening community bonds.

  • TFF remains dedicated to its mission of sustaining a thriving forest ecosystem for both nature and the local community. Through collaboration and sustainable initiatives, we continue to expand our impact and welcome new members who share our passion for conservation and adventure.

Visit to Silver Oak Mazingira Hub – 2nd May 2025

Thogoto Forest Family (TFF) team visited Silver Oak Mazingira Hub in Karen for a hands-on training and benchmarking session focused on nursery establishment and management. The visit provided valuable insights into innovative and sustainable practices for setting up indigenous tree nurseries, including seed propagation, soil preparation, and community-driven care systems. Inspired by the experience, TFF is now working on creating a designated safety zone within Thogoto Forest to support the successful implementation of our own nursery initiative for long-term conservation.
